Fingerprints
The details are in the centre
Marks of a beautiful kind
There you left your fingerprints
On this healing heart of mine
I know it was intentional
Maybe you’d disagree
Perhaps you will never really know
How your fingerprints healed me
I was feeling trapped and all alone
Like an animal in a cage
Then I I came to the conclusion
I had reached my final page
That was the moment I had given up
Deciding whatever will be will be
Life had been in charge of late
To do what it wants to me
But then you stood there by my side
And reached into my heart
Quietly, gently, thoughtfully
Caressing the poisoned parts
No judgement, no challenge or hurtful words
Is what I truly needed
Gradually… one day at a time
My hopelessness receded
And what was left around my heart
Was a vibrant ruby tint
And the indelible marks of compassionate love
Left by your fingerprints
