Tides

Stumbling and mumbling along the edge of the shore

Candid imposters, singing falsettos galore

Distracted by the circus of fear and taboo

The tides are furthering me away from you

As my body lurches into the sea

I hear nothing at all, absolute, from thee

While rumours are chanted in the echoing sadness

Lost souls are trapped in the burgeoning madness

As I further float and drift away from you

I begin to reflect in judicial review…

“Screech!” Interrupted by the buzzing tympanic

My whole body seizes in panic

Every fear and irrational thought

Twisting my reality into unbearable knots

Then I hear a soft whisper from the in between

“Persist and honour... What you have seen.”

Aware and calm I look for the shore

There is nothing I’ve ever wanted more

Time and healing will see me through

The tides are willing me back to you
